I enjoy having a potpourri simmering on our woodstove during the colder months. It makes our home feel cozy, festive, and welcoming. For the holidays, I like to fill a pot with herbs, spices, and fruits that embody the Christmas season. I gave this homemade stove top potpourri as gifts a few years ago and I thought I would share the recipe with you today.
Here is what you will need to make this Christmas stove top potpourri homemade gift:
4 sprigs of rosemary
5 cinnamon sticks
whole nutmeg
1 tablespoon of whole cloves
1/2 cup of dried cranberries
1 orange
Burlap bag
Jute twine
*Fill a burlap bag with rosemary, cinnamon sticks, whole nutmeg, whole cloves, dried cranberries, and whole orange. You can use ground spices instead of whole by simply putting them in a little plastic bag.
*Tie the burlap bag with jute twine.
*To use, slice the orange and place in a medium pot with all the other ingredients. Add 5 cups of water and let it simmer uncovered, adding water as needed.
I hope you like this simple and inexpensive gift idea!
Thank you so much for stopping by and cheers to a naturally scented Christmas!
With love and gratitude,
Marie-Hélène
