‘‘When you can’t control what is happening, challenge yourself to control the way you respond to what is happening. That’s where your power is.’’ -Unknown
After one week spent in sheer panic, fear, and anxiety, I am now striving to reclaim my power and make a shift towards hope. I realized this week that there is never a more important time to plant seeds than in uncharted territory. Planting seeds, literally and figuratively, is one of the most meaningful thing we can do individually and collectively right now when tomorrow feels so uncertain.
Every year, I start seeds indoors in the hope that they will germinate, that the seedlings will be strong enough to transplant and be spared by wildlife, that the plants will not succomb to strong winds or the scorching sun, and that I will remember to water them and pick their fruit before they rot. I keep planting even if there is no guarantee. I plant because there IS hope for a bountiful harvest and colorful blooms. There IS hope even if I can’t see it right now and understand how it will all come together with the countless obstacles on the way. In this unprecedented time, I encourage you to plant seeds everyday and to cling to hope.
This poem written by Kitty O’Meara has brought me some peace this week and I wanted to share it with you today.
And the people stayed home. And read books, and listened, and rested, and exercised, and made art, and played games, and learned new ways of being, and were still. And listened more deeply. Some meditated, some prayed, some danced. Some met their shadows. And the people began to think differently.
And the people healed. And, in the absence of people living in ignorant, dangerous, mindless, and heartless ways, the earth began to heal.
And when the danger passed, and the people joined together again, they grieved their losses, and made new choices, and dreamed new images, and created new ways to live and heal the earth fully, as they had been healed.
It is a very challenging time for all of us and I would love to use this platform to keep building community in a time when we have to be physically apart. Please let me know how you are holding up and what you are going through in the comment box below or by sending me an email at info@sheepshopvt.com
I would love to hear from you ❤️❤️❤️
With love and gratitude,
Marie-Hélène
